Kitty Answers – Michelle, Lorna and Darla

First of all I’d like to invite you all to go and visit my newest renter Newfie Girl, over there in the sidebar. I selected her blog from all the bids because, like all my previous renters, her posts made me smile or giggle. So pop over and read about what her hubby thinks is a romantic film for valentines, and then scroll down a bit to learn about this girl’s amazing mathematical powers.

Right, three more people have saved you from me having to make up some drivel for you to read today, by posing some more questions.

Michelle started the ball rolling again with:

1. If you could own any breed of cat what would it be and what would you call it.
2. What’s your favourite cross stitch piece you have finished?

1. Well I’m very lucky in that I already actually have the two breeds of cat that I really really wanted. The first is a Maine Coon, a beautiful if neurotic Silver Tabby girl called Angel, although believe me; she’s far from it! The second is a Norwegian Forest Cat boy called Azrael (which is far more appropriate, the tortie in the pic is Smurf) who’s smoky black in colour. The only other breed that I would love is a Birman but Wookiee has put his foot down at having a cat that looks like it didn’t stop in time when the cat in front stopped, as for what I’d call it, yikes, I’m hopeless at coming up with names, that’s why I have one called Smurf (Wookiee’s fault again)
2. My favourite finished piece of cross stitch would have to be my Angel of the Sea. Not only because it’s a beautiful piece and was my first really big finish, but because the framer did such a fabulous job with the matting and frame.

Next Lorna wanted some pointers on what’s normal, so I have no idea why she’s asking me!

1. How many hours in an average day do you spend stitching?
2. How many hours do you spend surfing BBs and blogs?

1. I suspect I average about 1 – 1.5 hrs a day over a good week, although it’s more at the weekends and less during the week.
2. Too many. I’d say about 6-7 hrs a week in total. However that’s mostly in small bursts throughout the day when I need a little light relief from working. Hooray for internet access in the office.

Finally Darla decided to try and catch me out with a trick question:
What's the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Of course since she hasn’t specified whether she’s asking about an African Swallow or a European Swallow it meant I had to do twice as much work.

Unfortunately I was unable to find sufficient data to perform the calculations for an African Swallow, but after extensive research and some complex mathematics I have determined that the average airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is 11 meters per second, or 24 miles per hour.

Next!

(P.S. There are pictures of Angel, Azrael and Angel of the Sea in my photo album, I will put the links in tonight, I just can't access that site from work, it's blocked by our netnanny, because personal photo albums may contain smut.)
